Welcome to Shaping Tomorrow

Global Scans · Affordable and Clean Energy · Weekly Summary

In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030.
Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

  • [New] Corresponding energy-related CO2 emissions rise 15% in the Reference case, from 35.7 billion metric tons in 2022 to 41.0 billion metric tons in 2050. EIA - Energy Information Administration
  • [New] Between 2025 and 2050, projected energy-related CO2 emissions could decline between 11% and 38%. / USA EIA - Energy Information Administration
  • [New] In energy, electricity generation would need to grow by almost 3 x, and renewables by 8 x to reach Net Zero targets by 2050. Wartsila.com
  • [New] By 2030, electric vehicles are expected to be no longer a niche alternative, but a core direction of the global car industry, reshaping manufacturing, energy systems and consumer expectations. heycar
  • [New] As next-generation solid-state battery technology matures toward aerospace application readiness and lithium-ion energy density continues to improve, battery performance constraints on eVTOL commercial viability in UK will progressively diminish. Mobility Foresights
  • [New] Energy constraints are now a material risk to the global semiconductor supply chain. Tech Startups - Tech News, Tech Trends & Startup Fundin
  • [New] Renewable energy projects like SunZia - the giant new wind and transmission project connecting New Mexico wind power to California - may show how the AI boom could also accelerate the renewable energy transition. Green Prophet
  • [New] The displacement of unabated fossil energy due to the imposed hydrogen deployment leads to reductions in global CO2 emissions in 2050 (relative to the No H2 case) that range between roughly 1,200 and 1,600 Mt CO2 per year. AGU Journals
  • [New] Demand for graphite and other minerals essential to the energy and digital transition is projected to rise four or five times by 2050. EurekAlert!
  • [New] Global energy demand is expected to grow by an average of more than 3.5% per year, while the generation expected to match it will predominantly consist of expansions in renewables, nuclear, and natural gas. We Don't Have Time
  • [New] Disruptions in global energy supply can have immediate ripple effects across industries, affecting everything from manufacturing output to financial stability. German Compliance Institute
  • [New] ITER will never produce power to supply to the energy grid, but will serve as one of the most important - if not the most important - research projects on Earth to solve the puzzle of creating commercial nuclear fusion, the holy grail of clean energy. oilprice.com
  • [New] The 27 Member States aim to ensure that the European energy sector becomes largely free of fossil fuels well before 2050. Bizclik Media Ltd
  • [New] With existing technologies, electricity can cover more than 75% of Europe's final energy demand - a share that will rise as electrotech penetrates industry, mobility and heating. Tony Blair Institute
  • [New] Russia's weaponization of gas and Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz have demonstrated the dangers of structural dependence in an era of geopolitical rivalry, and the close link between energy security and national security. Tony Blair Institute
  • [New] The North Sea has become the global epicenter of offshore wind, hosting more than 80% of Europe's installed offshore capacity, with regional plans to reach at least 300 GW by 2050 through the North Seas Energy Cooperation. Tony Blair Institute
  • [New] 54% of the clean, renewable energy that the United States will need for supplying 100% of its all-sector demand with clean, renewable energy in 2050. RSC
  • [New] The world's largest energy consumer and emitter, China, is currently on track to transition fully, thus eliminate 100% of its energy-related health - and climate-damaging pollution, by 2051. RSC
  • [New] Wind energy is predicted to support more than 600,000 manufacturing, maintenance, and installation jobs by 2050. Emirate Prestige
  • [New] While preparing militarily for possible threats from the United States, Cuba is seeking to stabilise its energy infrastructure. Caliber.az
  • [New] Approximately 170 million new jobs will be generated this decade as economies change, most of them in the areas of AI, green energy, advanced manufacturing, and data-driven services. Automate
  • [New] Buildings are major contributors to global energy use and CO2 emissions, so it's no surprise that improving their efficiency will be a central focus in the years ahead. cities-to-be
  • [New] The ASEAN region's combined GDP growth projection of 4.8% through 2030 supports infrastructure investments in transportation, energy, and industrial facilities that drive sealing product demand. Persistence Market Research
